Head of West Sumatra Transportation Agency Supports Safety Improvement at Level Crossings

Padang - Some time ago, the Class II Railway Engineering Centre in Padang participated in the Level Crossing Safety Socialisation held by the West Sumatra Provincial Transportation Agency. In this activity, the head of the West Sumatra Transportation Agency, Dedy Diantolany, affirmed his commitment to take care of each other at level crossings.

Let's share the railway; that's the most important thing. We are also getting information that the enthusiasm of the community to use the trains has started to grow in both Lubuk Alung, Pariaman, and Kayutanam. This is the time for us to promote the railway,' Kadishub said in his speech.

According to him, safety at level crossings is not just the responsibility of BTP Padang or PT KAI (Persero) Divre II West Sumatera or the West Sumatera Transportation Department alone, but a shared responsibility that includes the community itself.

Let us protect ourselves and our families," he added.

In the activity attended by the Head of Traffic, Facilities, and Safety Section, Taufik Erfin, representing the Head of BTP Padang, did not forget to convey to the participants of the socialisation to cultivate 'Berteman'. Berteman is a safety jargon that means stop, look left-right, safe, and then walk.

This activity does not take a lot of time—just a few seconds to practice every time you want to cross a level crossing. This will promote a sense of vigilance and caution to improve safety at level crossings,' he said.

He added that repeated these activities in immediate communities like this will further raise public awareness.

Hopefully, we can all cultivate Berteman to achieve zero accidents at level crossings," he hoped.
