Ensure Operational Readiness: BTP Padang-Ditkes Conduct Safety Assessment at Kampung Juar Station and Pauh Lima Station

Padang-To ensure that the stations are fit for operation, the Class II Railway Technical Centre (BTP) Padang, together with the Directorate of Railway Safety (Ditkes), conducted a safety assessment at Kampung Juar Station and Pauh Lima Station in Padang City.

The purpose of the safety assessment is to thoroughly evaluate the two newly constructed stations, Kampung Juar Station and the Pauh Lima Station, which have undergone infrastructure improvements. This is essential to ensure the safety of passengers, staff, and the infrastructure itself.

"Workplace safety must be a top priority, especially in industries that involve high-risk work, such as railway infrastructure construction. Therefore, it is essential to have a detailed, concrete, and standardized risk management system in place, under existing regulations," said Hendrialdi, Head of BTP Padang, in his statement.

This safety assessment is necessary for several reasons, such as helping to identify potential risks and hazards that may occur at stations, including risks related to the trains themselves or passenger movements. It also serves as one of the steps to improve stations that may not yet meet minimum service standards (SPM), such as installing surveillance systems, regulating passenger routes, and improving lighting.

The assessment also covers planning for emergency situations, including evacuation procedures, fire management (a common problem in West Sumatra), and accident response. This ensures that everyone around the station knows what to do in the event of an emergency.

"This activity is also carried out to fulfill our obligations as a railway regulator to comply with existing regulations. Assessments like this help ensure that stations meet all applicable standards," Hendrialdi added.
