Do You Know the Difference Between Railway Facilities and Infrastructure?

Padang - Currently, there are many people who do not understand what is included in railway equipment or railway infrastructure. However, each has a different role in the railway system.

The Class II Padang Railway Engineering Centre as a regulator in this case is the government that takes care of the railway infrastructure in West Sumatra, which includes railway lines, stations, bridges, tunnels, and other infrastructure. While in this case PT KAI (Persero) Divre II West Sumatra is a railway operator that owns and operates railway facilities.

BTP Padang is responsible for preparing plans for the construction and development of the aforementioned infrastructure, namely tracks, stations, and other supporting facilities. It also sets safety standards and operational policies to ensure that the infrastructure meets the necessary technical requirements.

It is also responsible for monitoring and auditing the condition of the infrastructure and working with various parties, including local governments and operators, to ensure the integration and effectiveness of the railway system as a whole.

While the maintenance and operation of the facilities is carried out by the operators under the permanent supervision of the regulator, namely BTP Padang as an extension of the Directorate General of Railways, Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia.
