BTP Padang Put Safety Banners to Reduce Accident Rates

Padang - In its continuous efforts to ensure the safety of railway operations within its jurisdiction, Balai Teknik Perkeretaapian Kelas II Padang, through its Safety, Facilities and Railway Traffic Division, continues to implement various initiatives such as safety monitoring, public awareness campaigns, incident response and more.

One of the key measures is the installation of safety banners at level crossings, which aims to raise public awareness of the importance of safety when crossing railways.

"We have installed these banners at several level crossings to spread safety messages and encourage people to stay alert and understand the risks they face at these crossings. The aim is to prevent dangerous behaviour that could disrupt train operations," said Hendrialdi, Head of BTP Padang.

The banners are strategically placed at locations such as unmanned crossings, busy traffic areas and high-risk crossings where they are likely to attract the attention of passers-by. "Everyone who passes by will see these messages, which we hope will raise awareness of the importance of being safe when crossing railway lines," he added.

Keeping level crossings safe is a shared responsibility. Even with safety infrastructure in place, it is the public's awareness and actions that determine whether these facilities work effectively.

By using visible and clear messages through these banners, BTP Padang hopes to promote a stronger safety culture at level crossings and reduce the risk of accidents in the region.
