THE LATEST NEWS OF ELECTRIFICATION: SOLO BALAPAN - PALUR KRL LINE WILL READY TO OPERATE IN JULY 2022
The development of railway lines in different regions of Indonesia continues to be carried out. One of them is the electrification of the railway line on the Southern Java cross. Line electrification is an effort by the Directorate General of Railways to improve services, especially in Central Java and DIY. The presence of the Jogja-Solo KRL is a solution to reducing congestion that often occurs in several areas, including at the Joglo intersection.
The total frequency of the Jogja-Solo KRL trips is 20 trips on weekdays and 24 trips on weekends. The Jogja-Solo KRL can carry an average of 11,815 passengers/day in 2022 and the total number of passengers transported has reached a total of 3,153,475 passengers since February 2021. This is a testament to the great public interest in public transportation. To be able to continue to provide safe, comfortable, and affordable public transportation services, the government is obliged to continue to develop rail transportation modes. Head of Central Java Railways Putu Sumarjaya said, "The extension of the electrification of the KRL to Palur line is expected to improve the service quality of the Jogja-Solo KRL. So that it can provide optimal service to passengers.”
Initially, the Jogja-Solo KRL only operated from Yogyakarta Station to Solo Balapan Station. Then the development of electrification of the line to Palur along 6.2 km is planned (2,086 km to Solo Jebres Station and 4,150 km to Palur Station). In 2020, construction will begin and until 2022 the physical progress achieved has reached 84.33%. The line is expected to be operated on the first Sunday of July 2022.
“Electrification development consists of several works, namely the construction of overhead electricity (LAA) and substations, arrangement of track layouts, and construction of KRL depots. Each job is almost done. The construction of LAA and Substations has reached 96.39%, Track Layout Arrangement has reached 84.20%, and Construction of KRL Depots has reached 72.20%," said Putu. The development of electrification of this line of course requires no small amount of funds. The investment value in this electrification line extension is Rp. 349,500,000,000. It's not a small value. Therefore, the Directorate General of Railways through the Central Java Regional Railway Engineering Center is trying to complete this development as best as possible so that it can be immediately used by the community.
Putu added that there are several benefits that will be felt by the community with the construction of electrification of the route to Palur, namely shortening travel time, strategic location, and optimizing services. Line electrification is expected to reduce travel time compared to other modes of transportation, from 17 minutes to 10 minutes. The location which is on the border of Surakarta and Karanganyar makes the location easy to reach by prospective passengers who come from several areas such as Sragen, Karanganyar, and Eastern Solo. In addition, with increased accessibility and the breadth of services provided, it will be an added value in supporting the mobilization of the Jogja-Solo KRL passengers.
"In addition to focus on the development of line electrification, several intermodal integration efforts have been carried out to provide convenience in mobilizing the community by using mass transportation in Jogja-Solo, including, the 630-meter-long Sky bridge that connects Solo Station with Tirtonadi Bus Terminal, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Trans Jogja which integrates its services at Yogyakarta Station, BRT Bus Solo Trans (BST) which is connected to Purwosari Station, and integration of Yogyakarta-Solo KRL services with the Purwosari-Wonogiri Perintis Train and Adi Sumarmo International Airport Train." Putu concluded. (PHP)
