PALEMBANG – The Ministry of Transportation, together with the Directorate General of Railways and the Directorate General of Land Transportation, conducted a Webinar with the theme "The Back To Public Transport Movement" This activity is carried out to encourage people to switch back to using public transportation.

The webinar will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022, and will be held in a Hybrid manner. Offline activities take place at Santika Premier Hotel Palembang, while online activities through the Zoom Meeting platform are attended by various groups such as students, representatives of the general public, and government agencies.

This webinar activity, "Back to Public Transport Movement" is an effort by the government to realize the role of public transportation as transportation that serves the interests of community mobility in carrying out their activities, both daily activities that are short distances or activities from time to time between provinces. Another aspect of public transport services is their role in traffic control, energy saving, and the development of urban transportation areas, which is one of the critical factors in increasing city productivity.

This event lasted for almost 3 hours, starting with singing the song Indonesia Raya and the Hymn of Transportation, a report from the Chief Executive, Director of Traffic and Railway Transportation, Mr. Rizal Wasal, and the opening by the Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Budi Karya Sumadi. Then, the event moderated by Mr. Helmy Yahya who is presenting the speakers such as the Governor of South Sumatra, the Mayor of Palembang, the Director General of Railways, the Director General of Land Transportation, as well as academics and the Indonesian Transportation Society.
