To celebrate Palembang's 1340th anniversary, the South Sumatra Light Railway Management Center is providing free LRT ticket promotions. According to Rode Paulus, the head of the South Sumatra Light Railway Management Center, owners of cashless LRT payment cards are taxed Rp1 rupiah.

"We just finished a meeting and it turned out that it was impossible to refund Rp 0 for cashless LRT card holders, so we cut Rp 1 in the balance one way," Rode told Tribunsumsel.com on Thursday (15 June 2023). 

Even so, if the owner of the LRT cashless card is unwilling to reduce the balance, they may simply purchase the ticket at the counter with no charge. 

"If you don't want to be charged Rp 1, you can get free LRT tickets at the counter." "This is our gratitude and a gift to the people of Palembang City," he added. 

Palembang Mayor Harnojoyo will ride the LRT from Bumi Sriwijaya Station to Polrestabes Station, according to Rode. 

The mayor will also ride the LRT on the 17th, he said.

The public can also participate in a selfie photo contest by dressing in traditional clothes at the LRT stop. The LRT manager will hand out rewards. 

"We are holding a photo contest in traditional clothes for people who come to the LRT station by tagging the South Sumatra LRT Instagram account," he explained.
