PALEMBANG – A team from the Office of the Presidential Staff (KSP) of the Republic of Indonesia made a working visit to the LRT South Sumatra on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 9-11 2021. During the visit, KSP was represented by KSP Special Staff Bambang Prihartono, Main Expert of Deputy III of the Presidential Staff Office Edi Priyono also along with other groups. The working visit of the KSP team was accompanied by the Head of the Finance and General Section of the South Sumatra Light Railroad Management Office (BPKARSS) and the Head of Maintenance and Improvement of BPKARSS Facilities and Infrastructure, Isyul Bahri. On the KSP agenda, this time, Bambang Prihartono and his team carried out monitoring and evaluation of strategic issues in the transportation sector, especially railways in Palembang City.

A series of activities carried out included discussions and hearings on “KSP Hear” and Discussion on the Utilization of the Integrated Cross Railroad (LRT) of South Sumatra. On the occasion, Bambang Prihartono said that there were two main programs carried out in the agenda of the KSP working visit to the province of South Sumatra. “The first KSP program in this working visit is to solicit aspirations and input from the people in South Sumatra province, especially in the city of Palembang. Furthermore, we hope that we will be able to provide solutions and at the same time disseminate information regarding the ongoing transportation development in Indonesia. In addition, on another agenda, KSP wants to see how far the development and progress of the operation of the South Sumatra LRT is," said Bambang.

He also said that his visit to Palembang City provided his first experience in using the South Sumatra LRT facility. “Honestly, this is the first time I have used the LRT Train in Indonesia, I feel very happy and very surprised, the operation of this LRT is very extraordinary. It looks like the infrastructure and facilities are so well maintained. The station is clean and not only is the station clean, the area around the station is also clean. And I give this thumbs up,” concluded Bambang.

As the first LRT in Indonesia, the South Sumatra LRT has been operating since mid-2018 in order to support the implementation of the 2018 Asian Games in Palembang City. With the presence of the South Sumatra LRT, of course, it provides added value as an option for transportation modes that can be a solution to congestion and ease the mobility of the surrounding community. After more than three years of operation, the South Sumatra LRT continues to strive to provide excellent service by providing transportation facilities that are safe, comfortable, environmentally friendly, and affordable for people in the Palembang City area.
