Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia Budi Karya Sumadi visited Palembang yesterday 14 October 2023. During his visit to Bumi Sriwijaya, Budi Rode the South Sumatera Light Rail Transit (LRT) from Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport to Palembang Police Station.

Before traveling, Budi took the time to shake hands with train employees while checking the readiness of officers in providing services. He was also welcomed by the Head of Facilities and Infrastructure Utilization of the South Sumatera Light Railway Management Center (BPKARSS) Aditya Yunianto. After that, Budi immediately boarded the train followed by officials of the Ministry of Transportation.

During the train ride, Budi chatted with passengers about their impressions of riding the LRT. "They are quite happy. Some told me, this is the main transportation option for daily activities," he said.

Budi hopes that the comfort and safety offered by the train will make passengers feel at home and can invite relatives to ride public transportation. "With affordable fares, LRT should be the main choice of public transportation," he said.

After traveling for 40 minutes, Budi Karya Sumadi arrived at Palembang Police Station. He was welcomed by PJ Governor of South Sumatera A. Fatoni and PJ Mayor of Palembang Ratu Dewa. They then took a group photo before continuing to check the feeder.

"Feeder transportation is quite helpful for community mobility to ride the LRT. Of course, this must continue to be supported," Budi said, while riding the feeder. So far, there are 7 corridors in operation. Among others, Palembang Polresta LRT Station-OPI Complex, RSUD-Sukawinatan LRT Station, Asrama Haji-Talang Betutu LRT Station, DJKA LRT Station-Plaju Market Terminal, Cambodia-Bukit Siguntang via Demang Station, Talang Kelapa-Talang Buruk via Asrama Haji Station and Asrama Haji-Sematang Borang Station via Jalan Noerdin Pandji.
