South Sumatra LRT Passenger Surge in 2024 Lebaran Season

During the 2024 Lebaran transportation post, South Sumatra LRT (Light Rail Transit) recorded a significant spike in the number of passengers. The data shows that 256.041 passengers used the LRT service, marking a 3,3% increase from the previous year which reached 247.892 passengers.

Head of the South Sumatra Light Railway Management Center, Rode Paulus, said that currently, more and more people are using the South Sumatra LRT as their daily mode of transportation. "Because, South Sumatra LRT has become the backbone of transportation in South Sumatra at large, and Palembang in particular," he said.

South Sumatra LRT has also been integrated with other modes of transportation such as feeder LRT, Teman bus, and Damri. So that it makes it easier for people to use public transportation. In the future, it is hoped that more and more people will switch from private vehicles to public transportation. So that it can reduce existing congestion.
