The commemoration of the 77th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia in 2022 feels even more special, especially for loyal users of the South Sumatra LRT. The South Sumatra Light Railroad Management Center (BPKARSS) on Saturday (20/8) made a breakthrough by launching the "Kartu Merdeka" promo, which was sold for Rp. 30,000 and can be used for as much as 1 month.

"We are committed to embrace all segments of South Sumatra LRT users, after previously in June 2022 we launched a Subscription Card for Students, today we together with PT Kereta Api Indonesia launched the Merdeka Card, which the general public can obtain," said Dedik Tri Istiantara, Head of South Sumatra Light Rail Management Center." 

The general public can obtain the Merdeka Card Promo starting August 20, 2022, at the nearest LRT stations. "So because this is a promo, the number of cards is limited. We only prepared 1000 Cards, so get it fast. Imagine the benefits obtained by the people of South Sumatra, with only 30 thousand, they can ride the LRT Sumsel as much as they want, for 1 month," added Dedik.

The South Sumatra LRT will continue to innovate this kind of service to increase passenger occupancy. Dedik conveyed that the number of passengers for the South Sumatra LRT from the beginning of operation until August 17, 2022, had reached 7.9 million passengers. The current trend is that the average daily number of passengers is 7 thousand on weekdays and 10 thousand on Saturdays and Sundays. 

The launching of the Merdeka Card coincided with a competition held by BPKARSS to enliven the 77th Indonesian Independence Day Contests, such as Coloring Competition for Kindergarten and Elementary School categories, Creative Dance Competition, and Rank 1 Competition which was held simultaneously at several South Sumatra LRT Stations.
