South Sumatra LRT Adds Operational Schedule and Establishes Command Post to Accommodate Community Travel

Approaching the Eid al-Fitr celebration soon, South Sumatra LRT (Light Rail Transit) ensures the addition of train operating schedules at 13 stations. If previously there were 6 facilities in operation, now 1 more trainset (circuit) will be added to accommodate passenger needs.

Head of South Sumatra Light Railway Management Center (BPKARSS) Rode Paulus said, the 7th trainset operation will be carried out on 11-14 April 2024 with schedule details from 10:35-17:53. "Train operations from the DJKA-Bandara crossing will continue to start at 05:06, and finish with the last train at 19:50. While the Airport-DJKA crossing, starts at 06:00 for the first train and the last at 19:55," he said. In total, there are 8 additional trips. From the original 94, to 102 trips / day.

Based on records in 2023, H + 1 to H + 4 Lebaran is the day when South Sumatra LRT occupancy surges. It can touch an average of 20,790 passengers. "Most are used for vacation, as well as hospitality to relatives," he said.

So the potential increase must be a common concern. One of them is to ensure the readiness of personnel in ensuring safe, comfortable, and smooth service. "Therefore, we have also opened the 2024 Lebaran Transport Command Post," he added.

The Eid Transportation Post will operate from 3 - 18 April 2024. The post will be operated by officers from the South Sumatra Light Railway Management Center (BPKARSS) as the LRT manager and PT KAI as the service operator. "For internal BPKARSS itself, there are at least 8 officers / day who will take turns to monitor services at the South Sumatra LRT," said BPKARSS head Rode Paulus, yesterday 1 April 2024.

This is,, of course, to provide the best service to the community, especially in welcoming important moments such as Eid. "By opening the Lebaran Transportation Post, we hope to help passengers on their journey and provide a sense of security and comfort during the holidays," he said.

Rode expects passenger trips to be comfortable and safe. In addition to ensuring the readiness of officials, his team has also checked and ramp-checked the facilities to ensure operational feasibility. The inspection was conducted jointly by PT KAI and the Palembang Class II Railway Engineering Center (BTP) on 26-29 February 2024. The results concluded that the condition of the facilities is in good condition. There are some disturbances, but they are minor.

In addition, on 1-4 March 2024, BPKARSS also conducted a ramp check of the minimum service standards (SPM) and checked the train operation. "We conclude that everything is running with the right SOP. From the service of the officers to the smooth travel conditions," he said.

He hopes that the opening of Lebaran Transportation Post 2024 can provide excellent service and support the smooth travel of the community during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return season.
