SOUTH SUMATRA LRT FEEDER, THERE ARE 7 CORRIDORS
In an effort to increase connectivity and population mobility as well as support economic growth in the South Sumatra region, the South Sumatra Light Railway Management Center (BPKARSS) has launched the South Sumatra LRT (Light Rail Transit) feeder. With a total of seven corridors, this project aims to provide efficient and integrated transportation solutions for the community.
Head of BPKARSS Rode Paulus said the 7 corridors operate in densely populated residential areas. "In detail, corridors 1-2 are managed by the Palembang City Government. "And 3-7 are funded by BPKARSS," he said.
The 7 corridors include:
1. Talang Kelapa Corridor – Talang Buruk: Connects the Palembang and Banyuasin border areas. This corridor is considered busy because many users want to study and trade.
2.St. Hajj Dormitory - Sematang Borang: This area can be said to be a gathering place for road users, traders and school children.
3.St. Hajj Dormitory – Talang Betutu: Connects two areas that are frequented by workers and housewives.
4.St. Polresta – Public Housing Complex. OPI: This corridor serves passengers from the Polresta area where there is a market to the Ogan Permata Indah (OPI) housing complex.
5.St. DJKA – Plaju Terminal: South Sumatra LRT arrival and departure point. Shopping centers in the OPI area, hospitals, and worker activities.
6.St. RSUD – Sukawinatan: This corridor connects two areas through which the hospital and also the activities of workers, students and business people.
7. Cambodia Stadium – Siguntang Hill: This area is near sports spots and also historical places/sites.
Each corridor is equipped with strategic stations and other supporting facilities, such as vehicle parking, to facilitate access and service to users. It is hoped that the South Sumatra Feeder LRT will reduce the traffic load on main roads and provide a more comfortable travel experience for the public.
This project is also expected to become a new investment magnet for the property and business sectors around these corridors. By opening up better transportation access, property values around the LRT line are expected to increase, while business opportunities in the trade and services sectors will also open up more widely.
The operation of the South Sumatra LRT Feeder confirms the commitment of all parties in building infrastructure that supports economic growth and community welfare. The hope is that the feeder can continue to operate and reach passenger pockets in various places.
