LRT Fest series kicked off, BPKARSS held Krissrun 5K

PALEMBANG - Wella Sitanggang looked out of breath as she took part in a run at Atlektik Field, Jakabaring on Sunday, 14 July 2024. Together with her friend Yamono, she enthusiastically followed the route of the Kriss Run. The event, organised by the South Sumatra Light Railway Management Centre, was the umpteenth time Wella had participated.

Running occasionally. Stop occasionally. I can't really run fast,' said the Medan woman. Wella said she was happy to take part in the event. Especially as she approached the finish line, she tightened her running, followed by a shout of joy. I finally made it. Even though my breathing is irregular," she added.

She hopes that this type of activity will continue, given the high level of interest in physical activity among young people. On the other hand, the high public interest can increase the public's interest in using public transport, especially the South Sumatra LRT in the future. The purpose of this activity is also to increase public interest in using public transport," he explained.

The Kriss Run event is one of a series of LRT Fest activities, the climax of which will be held on Friday 19 July 2024. Rode Paulus, head of the South Sumatra Light Railway Management Centre, opened the event at 06.00. He symbolically raised the flag and released the Kriss Run participants. I didn't miss it either. I'm going to run,' he said.

The route was along the athletics track. A distance of 5 kilometres. The team will be used to guide participants during the event," he said. In addition, his group also provides drinking water stops that runners can use. It is located at 3 kilometres," said Rode.

He said 650 people took part in the activity. This target exceeds our expectations. Because we started with 500 participants. Thank God it exceeded the target,' he said. All participants, he said, received medals and various snacks/merchandise. Because we also work with food, beverage, banking and health brands,' he explained.

He also handed out door prizes to lucky participants. We have 15 prizes. From shoes, refrigerators, washing machines to bicycles,' he said. There were also consolation prizes for five winners who were able to answer quizzes about the South Sumatra LRT.

He hopes that the success of the Kriss Run will be followed by the success of the LRT Fest on 19 July 2024. Our target for the audience is 5,000 people. We pray that this activity will run smoothly,' he said. Rode said he was happy to see the enthusiasm of the community for this Kriss Run event. In addition to inviting people to be active, his party hopes that people will get to know the South Sumatra LRT and especially use it in their activities. In line with our motto, let's succeed in the national movement to return to public transport," he concluded.
