CENTRAL JAVA RAILWAYS ENGINEERING CENTER IS READY TO CONTINUE THE REACTIVATION OF THE SEMARANG TAWANG – TANJUNG EMAS PORT TRAIN

Semarang (17/5) – Head of the Central Java Region Class I Railway Engineering Center (BTP Jabagteng), Putu Sumarjaya, together with the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo; The Deputy Mayor of Semarang, Hevearita Gunaryati, was present at the event of Providing Compensation for Handling Social Impacts on the Community in the context of Providing Land for the Reactivation of the Tawang Railway Station - Tanjung Emas Port, Tuesday morning at the Tanjung Emas Sub-District Office. On this occasion, Putu expressed his gratitude for the support from the Central Java Provincial Government, the Semarang City Government and particularly the people affected by the reactivation.

"We would like to express our gratitude to the Governor, Deputy Mayor, and staff for their good direction and coordination during the reactivation process. In particular, we also express gratitude to the communities which is affected by this reactivation. Thank you to all of you, ladies and gentlemen, for your cooperation and support for the smooth running of this development program," said Putu. "This donation is a follow-up process from yesterday's socialization activities that we carried out in December 2021. We make sure that this reactivation activity still pays attention to the rights of the affected communities," he continued.

The compensation is given to 61 community-owned areas and six public facilities, covering an area of ​​6,172 square meters with a compensation value of 15,482,844,818. "Thank God, due to a good communication and acceptance from the community, we will continue the reactivation of this railway line," continued Putu. Putu revealed that BTP Jabagteng (Directorate General of Railways, Ministry of Transportation in Central Java) started a reactivation program in 2017 in the form of track work at the Semarang Tawang Station Employment and the Tanjung Emas Port area. In 2022, the construction work of the 425 m'sp track and the Tanjung Emas Port Emplacement will be continued for 1,550 m'sp.

"As soon as the administrative process with the community is completed, we will continue the construction process. We are targeting the construction to be completed in early 2023, followed by several testing activities for operational feasibility. By mid-2023, we expect this railway line to start operating. Central Java, especially Semarang and its surroundings, has good potential in the trade sector. This potential needs to be supported by adequate infrastructure, especially logistics transportation with rail mode connectivity, more tonnage that can be transported, also the speed time and punctuality as an added value said Putu. The reactivation of this railway line will also support the activities of the Batang Integrated Industrial Estate (KIT) and help reduce road congestion and burden.
