BTP SEMARANG IS READY TO ENSURE THE SAFETY AND COMFORT OF PASSENGERS TRAVELING HOME BY TRAIN

Semarang (12/4) According to a survey conducted by the Ministry of Transportation, it is estimated that around 123.8 million people will travel home during the Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijri/Lebaran 2023 holiday, with 14.47 million of them choosing to travel by train. In anticipation of the increasing number of travelers, the government, including the Semarang Class I Railway Engineering Center (BTP), has made extensive preparations for the 2023 Eid (Angleb) train transportation. The Head of Traffic Section of BTP Semarang, Reza Maullana, stated that his team has taken various measures to ensure a safe and comfortable travel experience for passengers, including monitoring minimum service standards (SPM), ramp check facilities, and safety inspections.

"In the past two months, in collaboration with the relevant Directorates of the Directorate General of Railways, we have conducted direct inspections of facilities, infrastructure, Railway Human Resources, and the fulfillment of minimum service standards in Central Java and Yogyakarta. These aspects have generally met the eligibility standards and are ready to support the smooth movement of the community, especially train users in the homecoming and return flows. We can assure you that the human resources of operators, locomotives, trains, and stations, along with their facilities in the Central Java DIY region, are competent, reliable, and ready for operation. The railway lines, bridges, and operating facilities have also been field-checked in the north and south crossings, minimizing the potential for disruption of train travel. Additionally, we have requested PT KAI to prepare AMUS (tools and materials for emergency) in anticipation of emergency handling," Reza explained.

In addition to this readiness, Reza revealed that BTP Semarang also assigned personnel to the monitoring post. "This post is set up every Angleb, Christmas, and New Year, with a post located at the Semarang Hall Office and sub-posts in Surakarta, Yogyakarta, and Purwokerto. Our employees monitor the stations, particularly the strategic ones in Semarang Tawang, Poncol, Solo Balapan, Purwosari, Yogyakarta, Lempuyangan, and YIA Airport Train Station. We are also actively coordinating with the operators in each Daop. With high public interest in Lebaran transportation this year, as directed by the Minister of Transportation, the government is committed to serving the community and ensuring that the homecoming is safe, secure, and memorable."

Reza expected that with the various efforts made by the government and BTP Semarang, they can support the community's homecoming by providing safer, more comfortable, and reliable train travel. (humasbtpsemarang)
