SYNERGY: BTP CLASS I SEMARANG COLLABORATES WITH STAKEHOLDERS TO SOCIALIZE SAFETY AT RAILWAY CROSSINGS ON THE OCCASION OF THE 79TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA

In support of the PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) program, BTP Class I Semarang held safety socialization at railway crossings in Java and Sumatra Regional Operations / Divisions on Friday, August 16, 2024 (13 Operations and Regional Divisions).

In the Semarang area, socialization took place at JPL 01 Hasanudin Semarang Road Level Crossing in collaboration with the Semarang City Transportation Department, North Semarang Police, North Semarang Koramil, and three Railfans Communities: KRDE (Railfans Community Daop Four), IRPS (Indonesian Railways Preservation Society), and RF Tegal Community.

Rudi Pitoyo, Head of BTP Class I Semarang, stated that "the simultaneous socialization activities were conducted to raise public awareness and discipline to prioritize train travel and safety at level crossings."

This socialization was based on the theme "Freedom: Happy at the Crossing, Proud of Happy Culture at the Crossing,"  which aims to ensure that all level crossings are safe and there are no more accidents that can threaten the safety of train travel as well as the safety of the community and road users.

There are 372 level crossings in the Daop 4 Semarang area, including 203 guarded crossings, 139 unguarded crossings, and 30 non-level crossings (overpasses or underpasses).

"BTP Class I Semarang, in collaboration with the operators, continues to close railway crossings to ensure the safety of train traffic. Daop 4 Semarang has aggressively closed approximately 50 level crossings in the last two years," said Rudi.

It is conveyed to road users who will cross at level crossings to always be careful and alert. Road users must also prioritize train traffic and safety by obeying existing signs and rules.

"Next September is the month of National Transportation Day. We also routinely carry out socialization and safety promotion in the work area of the Service Unit. The safety tagline is "BERTEMAN" (stop, look left-right, safe, and walk/berhenti, tengok kiri-kanan, aman, dan jalan) and do not make or build illegal crossings. Violations at railroad crossings and highways are traffic violations and can be prosecuted by the authorities according to the rules stipulated in Law No. 23/2007 on Railways," Rudi concluded.
