BTP JABAGTENG COMPLETED THE REPAIRMENT, MAKAMHAJI UNDERPASS IS RE-OPEN

Surakarta (8/3) – The Central Java Region Class I Railway Engineering Center (BTP Jabagteng) has finally completed repairment to the Makamhaji Underpass in Sukoharjo Regency. After closing on 21 February, 2022, as of 8 March, 2022, the Makamhaji Underpass was re-opened to accommodate the traffic needs of the community. On the sidelines of his field visit, the Head of Central Java BTP, Putu Sumarjaya, said that the Makamhaji Underpass repairment was carried out to overcome repeated damage.

"The underpass drainage channel is located at the intersection of the road derivative with a flat road. Previously, this underpass was often passed by vehicles with a tonnage above the road capacity of class 3. This condition resulted in damage to the grille covering the drainage channel. As a concrete step, BTP Jabagteng completes the repairment of the Makamhaji Underpass as soon as possible," said Putu.

Meanwhile, the Commitment Making Official (PPK) of Central Java BTP, Dwi Maryono, explained that the underpass repairment was carried out from 21 February to 7 March 2022. The next step is paving roads (28 February -6 March 2022). The last stage is the cleaning of the work on 7 March 2022, so that on 8 March 2022, the public can start to access this underpass," explained Dwi.

Dwi also added the repairments details which is already carried out, such as concretizing the road under the railway bridge, repairing damaged asphalt on the underpass derivative road, repairing drainage channels with cast concrete, handling seepage of water sources, normalizing water pumps, making control tanks to overcome sediments on the road drainage channels, repairing of ACP (aluminum composite panel), repainting of fences and underpass walls, and replacement of lighting.

Furthermore, Putu also expressed his appreciation to the community and the local government. "I thank the community for their cooperation in being willing to take alternative routes during the underpass repairment. I also express my gratitude for the support of the Sukoharjo Regency Government's policy that heavy vehicles with a GVWR (Gross Weight) of 8,500 kg and above will no longer pass through the Makamhaji Underpass.

"We all hope that this underpass can function optimally after the repairment with the support of all parties. By regulating vehicle traffic according to the road class, the quality and life of the underpass road plan will be maintained so that the community in the long term can feel the benefits of the construction of this public facility," said Putu.
