REVIEW OF MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION OF THE HOUSE OF PEOPLE'S REPRESENTATIVES OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA IN A LABOR INTENSIVE PROGRAM FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE MULTIPLE-LANE MOJOKERTO (JGSM)

Surabaya (27/10) The Directorate General of Railways through the Railways Engineering Office for the Eastern Java Region held a work-intensive program for the Mojokerto-Mojokerto Double Track (JGSM) development project. In addition to supporting the government's program for the National Economic Recovery (PEN), the purpose of this Labor-Intensive is to encourage the wheels of the community's economy, especially for residents affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, this is in accordance with the direction of the Indonesian Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi. Other benefits expected from this program are to increase the empowerment of local communities, create jobs, especially for the poor, and increase people's purchasing power.

On Wednesday (27/10), Member of Commission V DPR RI, Sigit Sosiantomo held a field review to monitor the progress of the JGSM project development which is one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN) at Pull Station, Tarik District, Sidoarjo. This field review activity was also attended by the Head of East Java Railways Engineering Office Mohamad Zulkarnain, EVP of PT. KAI DAOP 8 Surabaya Heri Siswanto, a representative from the District, Head of Sector Police and Danramil of Tarik District. In the review, the Head of East Java Railways Engineering Office said that the Labor Intensive program was held as a form of contribution from East Java Railways Engineering Office to participate in the national economic recovery, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, "due to the current state of the Covid-19 pandemic, which Of course, it has a huge impact on the economy of the community, especially around the JGSM project, we from Railways Engineering Office East Java took the initiative to hold a Work Intensivety which will open up employment opportunities for local residents, "said Zulkarnain.

Zulkarnain explained that the JGSM Intensive Work program has succeeded in absorbing as many as 95 people who come from around the JGSM project work location. “In detail, this Padat Karya has succeeded in absorbing as many as 22 people from Mojokerto City, 73 local workers from Sidoarjo Regency. While the overall absorption of local workers that has been running so far, we have succeeded in absorbing more than 400 labor-intensive workers in all JGSM work packages," he added. In his field review, Zulkarnain also said that the program track length is around 33 km'sp, which is expected to be useful for workers so as to help increase productivity and provide added value for the community.

"In addition, the Padat Karya program carried out by friends of local workers in the construction of the JGSM project has carried out development work, including the manufacture of board directors and workrooms, installation of benchmarks, maintenance of heavy equipment, maintenance of work warehouses, door guards for access to locations. work, deploying retrofitting geotextiles, ironing, and preparing for the installation of box culverts,” explained Zulkarnain. Responding to the report submitted by East Java Railways Engineering Office Sigit Sosiantomo stated that his party as a government supervisor really appreciates what East Java Railways Engineering Office is doing in implementing the Intensive Work program of the JGSM development project. “We at Commission V of the DPR, in principle, really support this work-intensive activity. On my way to the location, I saw that the Padat Karya activities were going well and of course, this was a positive effort in raising people's standard of living socially and economically.” Sigit also added that the train is a 'luxury' mode of transportation, so the development process must be taken seriously.

A series of field inspections at the Pull Station ended with the giving of safety vests and love ropes in the form of gifts to a number of Padat Karya workers as a form of appreciation and motivation. "This gift is a form of support from us which is expected to motivate workers to be able to work more optimally and enthusiastically," concluded Zulkarnain.

For information, the construction of the Double Track-Mojokerto-Mojokerto (JGSM) along 33 kilometers of track (km'sp) is divided into 10 work packages covering Mojokerto City and Sidoarjo Regency. Several other Labor Intensive program activities are still being carried out in all JGSM work packages so that they can absorb more workers from the area around the JGSM project location.
