Baperka Develops IT-Based Integrated SMN Management System

Grobogan – Information technology (IT) is a solution in various modern management system developments. Although the management of railway facilities at the Railway Maintenance Center (Baperka) has been carried out professionally, it can still be improved more with Information Technology.

The development of the system is immediately realized through the formation of an Assistance Team by the Head of the Railway Maintenance Center in the medium of 2022. The Assisting Team, led by the Head of the Periodic Maintenance Section, is tasked with monitoring the preparation of the operating and maintenance system for state-owned facilities and supporting facilities for railway maintenance based on Information Technology.

The Assistance Team immediately moved quickly. In August, the Team held a marathon discussion on the preparation of the study. On Tuesday (16/8/2022) carried out the evaluation and assistance of the study report on the development of the system, then continued a week later on Monday (29/8/2022) at the Baperka Office Hall, continuing to discuss the results of the study on the need for the development of an IT-based railway facility management system. .

The scope of study discussed includes procedures for the operation and maintenance of State-Owned Facilities (SMN) and maintenance support facilities. Including related matters that support the improvement of the competence of human resources for SMN care.

The output that will be produced is a digital governance system with technical Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in the field of managing railway facilities. Not only written governance, the system will be poured later into dummy software in the form of websites and applications that are compatible on PCs and mobile phone devices.

The discussion is dynamic. The Advisory Team thoroughly discussed the results of the study interactively. In general, the Team ensures that the IT-based system that is developed must meet all requirements. On the one hand, the developed system must be able to accommodate a complete set of work tools. On the other hand, it must be able to answer the challenges of managing modern railway facilities which are required to be fast and accurate.

In relation to the study conducted, juridically, the Ministry of Transportation has issued the Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 60 of 2020 concerning Supervision of Information Technology-Based Railway Infrastructure and Facilities. Regulations contain an IT device-mediated surveillance system. The regulated equipment includes applications, storage media, telecommunications networks, control centers and other supporting equipment.

Meanwhile, from the operational management point of view, the preparation of a system development study involves a study that refers to the Asset Management System with the ISO 55001 standard. Asset Management is related to asset management carried out by Baperka in SMN through various maintenance team work activities.

The results of the discussions carried out on the two agendas above will be followed up according to the recommendations. Then the results of the improvements will be scheduled to be discussed again by the Advisory Team in the next few weeks. (yogo)
