Safety and Security of the Ngrombo Workshop Work Area

Grobogan – Like a transportation maintenance workshop with a heavy fleet category, the safety and security of the technical team, employees and guests who come are the main concern in managing the workshop facilities.

This element is also being implemented by the Railway Maintenance Office, both in the workshop building and warehouse for special equipment facilities, which are located in Toroh District, Grobogan Regency, Central Java Province.

As a government agency in the field of maintenance of railway facilities, it is closely related to maintenance support tools that have a level of risk of danger that needs to be watched out for, as well as flammable materials.

Therefore, the correct arrangement of the work area will minimize the potential for work accidents to occur, and must be understood and guided by all people who are in the workshop facility.

When inside the workshop building, visitors immediately see the floor with several different colors.

After passing through the hallway right before entering the main workshop area, there is a storage area for PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) that visitors can wear as a safety support facility at work. The minimum PPE worn is a safety vest and helmet.

Arriving at the main workshop area, there are four rail lines in the building, two of which have spoor under and under floor facilities. Looking directly at the workshop space, one can see the situation and conditions. Maintenance support equipment is already available which is located on the middle floor of the workshop room, such as a lifting jack as a lifting equipment for railway facilities. The crane device is also installed on the top frame of the workshop in a strong and safe location.

The red floor looks striking along the rail line, with standard parameters. On the sidelines of the red floor, there is a transverse yellow floor paint safety line, along the dividing line between the red and green working floors.

Based on SNI 13-6350-2000 Demarcation line (delimiter) is a boundary mark in the form of a line that is found on the floor and is marked with different colors according to its use. The dividing line in the Railway Care Center is yellow with green and red floor colors.

The application of the demarcation line is expected to prevent accidents. Floor color demarcation must also pay attention to K3 signs, clean, clear.

Circulation aspects must also be considered in designing workshops so that work traffic runs smoothly, effectively and efficiently. According to the standards, traffic inside the workshop must be wide enough for at least one forklift to pass by. Ngrombo Workshop work floor with cast concrete construction with fine plaster. Cast floors are also effective if there are materials or equipment that fall, so the floor is not easily damaged.

Looking at the upper wall of the Ngrombo Workshop, a clear glass window has been installed which can receive more than 50 percent natural light, artificial lighting installations with light sources have been installed at several points that can cover the work area. The window area extends from 21 percent to 40 percent of the workshop space.

On the other side of the wall is a fairly large cross-section, containing instructions on work safety in the workplace in the form of K3 banners. The benefit of the K3 banner is to provide an early warning to workers about the hazards in the workplace, so it is necessary to practice safe work.

In addition to the safety facilities attached to the visitor's body, the Ngrombo Workshop provides light fire extinguishers (APAR) which are placed at several strategic points that can be easily reached.

Fire extinguishers with large volumes are also provided with wheels that are installed automatically, so they are mobile.

The provision of various safety installations in the workplace is one of the elements in the broad framework of implementing the Railway Safety Management System (SMKP) at the Railway Care Center. (yogo)
