Duties of the Official Train: Flood Floods Shut the Train

Semarang - Friends of #BaperKA must be familiar with this railway facility. That's right, this is the CC300 locomotive made by PT. INKA (Persero). This locomotive has the specifications of a hydraulic diesel locomotive which has a driving force that comes from a diesel engine. What is a hydraulic diesel locomotive? That is, the locomotive works with a hydraulic transmission that transmits power from the diesel engine to the wheels of the train using a torque converter.

On December 30 2022 yesterday, due to high rainfall, it caused several points of the rail line between Semarang Poncol Station - Alastua Station. So that on December 31, 2022, the Railway Maintenance Center was asked for assistance for the operation of the CC 300 12 01 Locomotive to carry out activities to evacuate train shunting and carriages.

Baperka Squad (Baperka Railway Maintenance Team) provided assistance for the operation of the CC 300 12 01 Locomotive facilities to anticipate train disruptions due to heavy rains and unravel train congestion that occurred due to the inundation of the railroad tracks.

The CC 300 12 01 locomotive operates for 7 (seven) days with details of activities starting on Saturday, December 31, 2022 with shunting activities. In detail, the train shunting by the CC300 locomotive from Semarang Poncol Station to Alastua Station includes Argo Muria Additional trains, and Trains Blambangan. The transfer from Alastua Station to Semarang Poncol Station was carried out for the Airlangga Train

Then the alert on Sunday, January 1 2023 includes the agenda from Semarang Poncol Station to Alastua Station including several trains, namely the Matarmaja Train, Kertajaya Train, Argo Anggrek Train, Joglosemarkerto Train, Blambangan Express Train, and Gumarang Train.

Then the route from Alastua Station to Semarang Poncol Station, includes the Gumarang train, Joglosemarkerto train, Argo Anggrek train, 30 container goods train, 30 container goods train and Gumarang train.

The third day of work was carried out on Monday, January 2 2023. Locomotive CC 300 registration number 12 01 carried out train shunting activities from Semarang Poncol Station to Alastua Station back and forth, with train shunting activities with locomotive 206 pulling and linking activities.

After carrying out the field work, from 3 to 6 January 2023 the CC 300 locomotive facilities were stabling at Alastua Station and carried out periodic maintenance by the Railway Maintenance Center team. Because the intensity of the rains had decreased and there was no standing water on the railroad tracks, on January 10, 2023 the CC 300 locomotive returned and stabling to the Ngrombo Workshop, the Railway Maintenance Center.

If you pay attention, every time the railroad tracks are flooded due to flooding, the CC 300 locomotive belonging to the Directorate General of Railways is always at the forefront of evacuation missions on flooded railroad tracks. This is related to the superiority of Loko CC 300 which has a hydraulic drive system.

This locomotive is a type of locomotive with a hydraulic transmission where the electrical system is integrated with the hydraulic diesel drive which is placed at the top of the locomotive, so that it can drive carefully on the rails with a maximum height of calm water puddles of 1 meter or when walking can pass through water heights ranging from 85 cm high. by walking carefully and with a note as long as the rail sleepers are safe not to be eroded by water.

CC300 has greater engine power than the newest locomotive currently operated by KAI, namely CC206. The CC300 has an engine power of 2500 horse power (hp), while the CC206 has a power of 2250 hp.

What's cool, from a technological point of view, this locomotive is designed to keep going even in flood conditions. The CC300 has an integrated electrical system with a hydraulic diesel drive placed at the top of the locomotive, so that the train can continue to run even though the tracks are inundated with water as high as one meter. This advantage is not found in similar locomotives made by General Electric (GE) made in the United States which are generally used, because the electrical system is located at the bottom, especially the traction motor, which allows a short circuit to occur when it is flooded.

In addition, this locomotive is equipped with a generator inside, so there is no need to pull a special carriage for the generator as is usually done on diesel passenger trains in general. This diesel will later function to generate electronic facilities on the train such as lighting facilities (lights) and air conditioning (AC).

A brief description of the CC 300 "Flood Conqueror" rescue mission in the event of a flood at the Alastua Station - Semarang Poncol Station and some of its advantages. #BaperKA friends can convey their experiences when they meet Loko CC300 through correspondence or the editor's email address.
