DJKA Socialized P4GN and HIV/AIDS Prevention in Surabaya City

Surabaya - The Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation held a hybrid Socialization of Prevention of Eradication of Abuse and Circulation of Narcotics (P4GN) and HIV/AIDS on Friday (24/11/2023). Several State Civil Apparatus (ASN) from all centers in the DJKA Java Region also attended the event at the Aria Centra Hotel Surabaya.

The event was also attended by the Secretary of DJKA Ir. Yuyun Endah Wahyuningrum MT, Head of Human Resources and General Affairs Syafek Jamhari, M.Pd., Head of BTP Class I Surabaya, East Java Provincial BNN, East Java Provincial Health Office, and representatives of Directors within DJKA.

A number of resource persons were presented to share knowledge with the participants. They were the Head of the Center for Sustainable Transportation Management of the Ministry of Transportation, doctor Capt. Tri Cahyadi, M. Mar, MH; Associate Expert Counselor of the East Java Provincial BNN, doctor Poerwanto Setijawarago; and Section Head of Communicable Disease Prevention and Control of the East Java Provincial Health Office, drg. Sulvy Dwi Anggraini, M.Kes.

In the session hosted by doctor Niken Retno Wulan Ningtyas Handayani MARS, Capt. Tri emphasized that the Ministry of Transportation supports the implementation of P4GN actions, both in terms of prevention and eradication.

"Preventive action is being taken not only against ASN, but also against cadets/residents of official education and transportation personnel," said Capt. Tri.

One of the efforts being made by the Ministry of Transportation to increase P4DN action, according to Capt. Tri, is the revision of Minister of Transportation Regulation Number 17 of 2012 concerning Standard Operating Procedures for P4GN in the Transportation Sector.

"This revision is motivated by organizational arrangements, follow-up of drug abusers, and review of procedures for implementing P4GN activities. "There were also discussions about the development of ASN and personnel abusers that need to be carried out in other forums," he explained.

This P4GN action, he believes, is critical because Indonesia is currently in a state of drug emergency. The mode of transportation has become a drug trafficking route, but it is important to remember that transportation safety is the most important factor.

"As a result, the transportation human resources who carry it out must be ensured to be drug-free and fit to carry out their duties," continued Capt. Tri.

In line with this explanation, Doctor Poerwanto also reminded us that drugs have many risks, one of which is brain damage.

"The brain may be lost as a result of the impact." "If you lose your brain, you can become Jaka Sembung, and when you talk to him, you can not connect," Poerwanto explained.

Last but not least, drg. Sulvy urged participants to be aware of HIV/AIDS and STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections). She explained that diseases that can be transmitted through vaginal fluids, sperm, blood, and breast milk can be prevented with six steps.

"There are six ways to prevent HIV/AIDS and STIs, ABCDE and Standard Precautions." ABCDE stands for abstinence, which means no sexual intercourse before marriage or no sexual intercourse while suffering from STIs. "B is faithful, which means he only has one sex partner," Sulvy explained.

The third point to mention is condoms, specifically how to use condoms correctly to prevent the transmission of STIs and HIV infection. Then there is D, which stands for drug-free, which means no narcotics, psychotropic substances, or other additives.

The next step is education, which means that everyone should be aware of the disease, from how it is spread to the dangers and how to prevent it. With the implementation of education, the sixth step, namely standard vigilance, can be formed.

In addition to the experts, two sisters named Dian and Lauren, who have been Anti-Drug Volunteers in Surabaya City since 2010, shared their experiences. Dian, a former drug addict, urged people to never fall into the abyss of drugs.

"The pleasure is fleeting, but the impact is felt even now." "Like me, my right eye is blind, and my speech is slurred," she concluded.
