BTP Padang accelerates improvement of Padang-Bukit Putus railway line

Padang - The improvement of the Padang-Bukit Putus railway line has reached 92 percent by February. That is, only 8 percent more before it is finally completed in the physical work of improving the line.

The improvement of the railway infrastructure carried out by the Class II Padang Railway Engineering Center (BTP) is being accelerated to provide the best service to the people of West Sumatra.

The upgrading of the R42 to R54 railway line through Padang-Bukit Putus has been carried out to increase the transportation capacity and efficiency of train travel to reduce congestion, speed up train travel, and improve safety to improve the overall quality of rail transportation services.

Until February this year, the work on the railway infrastructure improvement project, which has been carried out since last year, was difficult until the completion of the wesel work, making staple sliding/shifting of the wesel, inserting new R54 wesel, inserting new ballas, adjusting the mechanical drive of the wesel tongue and some other things.

The change from R42 to R54 refers to an increase in the standard or class of the railroad. Some of the things involved are track upgrades to increase capacity and maximum speed, and track, signal, and infrastructure upgrades to improve safety and reliability. Track electrification will also be implemented to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions.

"I hope that this line upgrade will be able to develop a transportation integration system to improve connectivity between modes of transportation so that railways in West Sumatra will be more advanced," hoped Padang BTP Head Endang Setiawan. (RAH)
