Railway Bridge Improvement on BH 18 Has Reached 85 Percent

Padang - In the 8th year of Padang Class II Railway Engineering Center (BTP) in the performance of its main duties and functions (tusi) as an extension of the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenhub RI) in its work area, various railway infrastructure improvements included in the SBSN Activity Progress for the Improvement of Padang-BukitPutus-Pauh Lima Railway Line MYC 2022-2024 are still in progress. In this second year of physical works, several infrastructure improvements continue to be promoted, one of which is the improvement of several bridges.

The physical work on one of the railway bridges, namely BH 18 span 15m KM5 + 585 between Bukit Putus and Padang, has now reached 85 percent and on 2 February 2024, the bridge was relocated. This activity is carried out to improve services on the Padang-Bukit Putus railway line and increase the stability, safety and comfort of rail traffic.

"In this case, BTP Padang increased the bridge loading plan from the previous 8 tons (RM Sumbar) to 18 tons (RM 1921)," said Railway Infrastructure Section Head Bernadi Armisetyo in his statement.

The relocation of the 15 meter long bridge was carried out from 17:00 WIB to 06:00 WIB the next day together with PT KAI (Persero) Divre II West Sumatera when the train was not operating so as not to disturb the train traffic.

"Hopefully, this bridge improvement can be completed as soon as possible so that trains passing through can be safer and more comfortable," he hoped. (RAH)
