Duku Station, Transit Station for Three Trains in West Sumatra

Padang - Duku Station is a class II station located in Kasang, Batang Anai, Padang Pariaman Regency. West Sumatra. Currently, the station, whose name is taken from the name of the local area, is the only station that is a stopping point or Transit Oriented Development based station for three trains in West Sumatra, namely Pariaman Ekspres Train, Minangkabau Ekspres Train and Lembah Anai Train.

Duku station, which has a typical rumah gadang (grand house) Minangkabau architectural design, was revitalised in 2018 by the Class II Padang Railway Engineering Centre as an extension of the Directorate General of Railways, Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia.

The station, which has the code DUK, has three railway lines, two of which are straight lines towards Padang City and Lubuk Alung, while northeast of line one of this station is a branch to Minangkabau International Airport Station for three kilometres as the last stop of the Lembah Anai train since 2019 and Minangkabau Ekspres since 2018.

Duku Station is one of the stations that serves as a train yard. This station is important for the smooth operation of trains on larger lines. Furthermore, the station is used to coordinate train movements, load and unload goods, and accommodate trains that are not running.

Railway switching is the process of moving or arranging trains within a station or between railway lines for specific purposes such as splitting, joining, or maintenance. This process is usually done by using locomotives to push or pull trains within the area.
