Adhering to Regulations, BTP Padang Conducts Document Archiving Activities

Padang – Document archiving is a critical activity for any government institution, as it is directly related to the storage of records that document the history of policies, decisions, and actions taken by the government. Proper archiving is essential to understanding the development of policies and the changes that have occurred over time.

In this context, Class II Railway Engineering Centre Padang (BTP Padang), as the regulatory body in the field of railway operations in West Sumatra and under the Directorate General of Railways, Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, regularly conducts archiving activities as part of its commitment to adhere to regulations. Proper archiving ensures that records are kept in a way that complies with relevant legal requirements.

In addition, well-organized archiving helps ensure that important information is readily available, systematically stored, and easily accessed when needed. This process is crucial in supporting transparent, accountable, and effective government functions.

Several regulations guide the management of archives, including Law No. 43/2009 on Archiving, which outlines the management of archives within government agencies and sets out the responsibilities of institutions to archive documents. There is also Government Regulation No. 28/2012 on Archive Management, which provides guidelines on classifying, storing, and disposing of archives.

Further, specific regulations from ministries also provide guidelines for archive management within their respective institutions. These rules are designed to ensure that archives are transparent and comply with established standards, ultimately supporting accountability and delivering the best public service.
