Railway Monitoring Post-Floods and Landslides in Sawahlunto

Padang - The flash floods and landslides that hit West Sumatra not only affected the Anai Valley area, but also several other areas, including Sawahlunto, which has an active railway line. Through the Sawahlunto Service Unit, the Padang Class II Railway Engineering Centre also conducted a survey of the affected areas in the region.

During the on-site inspection, BTP Padang found landslides at KM 152+100/200 between Muarokalaban station and Sawahlunto station and subsidence at KM 151+700/800 between Muarokalaban station and Sawahlunto station.

When we saw this, together with PT KAI Divre II West Sumatra, we took immediate action. The Directorate General of Railways, through the Directorate of Railway Safety, also conducted an on-site inspection in the affected area,' said BTP Padang Kelapa Endang Setiawan in its statement.

A quick response was made as the line is used by Mak Itam, which has a connection with Sawahlunto-Muarokalaban station (pp). Although Mak Itam does not operate as regularly as the railway lines in Padang City, Pariaman City, and Padang Pariaman Regency, it still needs to be handled quickly," he continued.

With this handling, we hope that Mak Itam's journey will be safe and smooth without any major incidents.
