BTP JAKARTA CONDUCTS CLOSURE OF JPL 183 STATION RANGKASBITUNG CROSSING

Jakarta (31/07) – The Jakarta Class I Railway Engineering Center continues to improve railway safety in order to support people's mobility in agglomeration areas. For this reason, the Jakarta Class I Railway Engineering Center consistently carries out mitigation directions by closing level crossings.

Head of BTP Class I Jakarta, Nur Setiawan Sidik said that it is necessary to permanently close the JPL 183 level crossing Jalan Ki Maklum/R.T Hadiwinangun as an effort to improve safety at level crossings in accordance with the Minister of Transportation Number PM 94 of 2018 concerning Improving the Safety of Level Crossings Between Railway Lines and Road.

This was reinforced by the recommendation from the Lebak Regency Transportation Service to close the JPL 183 level crossing.

"To support the implementation of railway safety according to PM Number 94 of 2018, BTP Jakarta together with related parties closed the JPL 183 level crossing, besides that there was a result of coordination with the Lebak Regency Transportation Service which did recommend this closure." Nur Setiawan said.

This closure was also carried out in order to support the Lebak district government program for structuring the Kalijaga terminal which will be connected directly to the Rangkasbitung station

Closing this level crossing is a proactive measure to reduce the risk of accidents and mitigate the hazards that may occur in the crossing area.

Statistical data shows that level crossings are often prone to traffic accidents, and this action is taken to prevent potential similar incidents in the future.

Nur Setiawan further explained that in order to overcome the mobilization of the people affected by the closure of this level crossing, the plan will be to build a People's Crossing Bridge (JPO) that is integrated with the station building on the west side. "A JPO will be built for community mobility and the implementation of the work following the stages of the Rangkasbitung Station Improvement activities." Nur Setiawan explained.
