To be integrated with Manggarai Central Station, Jakarta LRT Phase 1B to be completed in third quarter of 2026
Jakarta (26/06) The extension of the Jakarta LRT route for Phase 1B Velodrome-Manggarai is progressing as planned and is expected to add alternative transport modes that will be integrated with Manggarai Central Station. This will strengthen the role of Manggarai Central Station as a hub for rail transport modes in Jakarta and surrounding areas.
Director General of Railways, Risal Wasal, said that the progress of the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B Velodrome-Manggarai has been relatively smooth and has not missed the set target. We are optimistic that this project will be completed and operational in early 2027. We hope the public will be able to enjoy it in the third quarter of 2026,' said Bapak. Risal.
As of the second week of June 2024, the work of Jakarta LRT Phase 1B Velodrome-Manggarai has reached 18,147%. In this phase, a 6.4 km long line with 5 stations consisting of Rawamangun Station, Pramuka BPKP Station, Pasar Pramuka Station, Matraman Station and ending at Manggarai Station will be built.
The presence of the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B will complete the transport integration at Manggarai Station. So later, when the long-distance train stops at this station, passengers can immediately continue their journey to Kelapa Gading on the Jakarta LRT by using the walkway from Manggarai Station to the Jakarta LRT station,' Risal explained.
Later, the Jakarta LRT will operate with a 10-minute headway. With this extension, the potential passenger demand for the Velodrome-Manggarai junction will gradually increase to 80.000 passengers per day.
To maximise the utilisation of the Jakarta LRT, Phase 2A will also be developed in the future with the Kelapa Gading-JIS, 1C Manggarai-Dukuh Atas, and 1D Dukuh Atas-Pesing crossings, as well as lines 3A and 3B, which will each complete the Kemayoran-JJIS - Kelapa Gading-VVelodrome-KKlender-HHalim route.
We continue to encourage economic centres and community activities to be well served by public transport, especially rail transport, so that people can move more easily, safely, quickly and comfortably," Risal concluded. (HJA/DA)
