SAKIP is a systematic series of various activities, tools, and procedures designed for the purpose of determining performance, measuring data collection, classifying, and reporting performance in government agencies, in the context of accountability and improving the performance of government agencies. The purpose of the AKIP System is to encourage the creation of performance accountability of government agencies as one of the prerequisites for the creation of a good and trusted government. While the objectives of the Government Agency Performance Accountability System are:

1. Accountable government agencies so that they can operate efficiently, effectively, and responsively to the community's and their environment’s aspirations.
2. The realization of transparency of government agencies.
3. The preservation of public trust in the government.
4. The realization of public participation in the implementation of national development.

With the availability of this SAKIP Implementation Guide, it is expected to be a reference for all work units within the Directorate General of Railways to be able to realize the achievement of a good governance system.
