Progress Monitoring of Replacement of Wheel Bearings of State-Owned Railway Crane SC 3 05 01 at Balai Yasa Yogyakarta

On 17-19 March 2024, the Sub-Directorate of State-Owned Facilities Management of the Directorate of Railway Facilities carried out the monitoring of the progress of work on the replacement of wheel bearings of State-Owned Railways Crane SC 3 05 01 at Balai Yasa Yogyakarta. This activity was carried out because based on the daily check by the State Railway Crane maintenance service provider team on 12 March 2024 at Solo Balapan Locomotive Depot before the facility left for Balaiyasa Yogyakarta.

The condition of the State Railway Crane SC 3 05 01 was found to be Not Ready for Operation (TSO), but the flat car NNKW 30 10 01 and the helper train SN 0 08 01 were found to be in a Ready for Operation (SO) condition with a note that the existing findings must be resolved by the State Railway Crane Maintenance Service Provider team. As a result, the monitoring team of the Directorate of Railway Facilities advised the State Railways Crane Maintenance Service Provider team to immediately follow up on these notes to complete the standard inspection items on the check sheet and report the progress of the wheel replacement activities.

 The Balaiyasa team is targeting the third week of March Railway Crane Maintenance can return to Ready for Operation (SO). Where after the installation of new bearings is completed, it is planned that on 22 March 2024, testing and inspection of the lower frame before being sent from Balaiyasa Yogyakarta to Solo Balapan Locomotive Depot.

Safe, secure, and smooth are the main priorities in every operation of railway facilities, both for passenger and freight transportation. To ensure these conditions, every railroad facility needs to be maintained, inspected, and tested according to a series of schedules. Maintenance, inspection, and testing activities are a series of activities mandated by regulations to ensure the safety and smoothness of train travel.
