Jabodebek LRT Train Attendant

BEKASI (06/03) - When you hear the word "stewardess" or "steward," you probably imagine someone who is tall, attractive, and normally works in an airplane cabin. But don't get it wrong; there are train attendants as well as aircraft attendants.
The greater Indonesian population has been eagerly anticipating the opening of the Jabodebek Light Rail Transit (LRT) in July 2023, particularly in the communities around Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi. Train sets to stations are one of the many operations-related preparations that are still being accelerated.

The Jabodebek LRT advancement is based on Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 98/2015 on the Acceleration of the Implementation of Integrated Light Rail / Light Rail Transit in the districts of Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi. The trains used by the Jabodebek LRT are produced by PT INKA and will be controlled utilizing a Communication-Based-Train Control (CBTC) system with Grade of Automotion (GoA) level 3, in which trains move autonomously without the need for a driver. The gap between trains in this system might approach 3 minutes.
Train Attendants are responsible for supervising passengers during operations and handling emergency situations, according to Minister of Transportation Decree No. KP 765/2017. Train Attendant's role is to make sure that everything linked to Jabodebek LRT is working well, to give customers information, and to provide services to clients.

To ensure quality, Jabodebek LRT Train Attendant officers' credentials are based on Minister of Transportation Regulation Number 4 of 2017 concerning Certification of Railway Facilities Crew Proficiency. Train Attendant criteria include being physically and emotionally sound, as well as not being colorblind, according to the Minister of Transportation Regulation.

Train attendants are constantly on the train since Jabodebek LRT operations are carried out automatically from the central Operation Control Center (OCC) / Backup OCC. However, if the LRT is disrupted, the train attendant can take over the controls. Train Attendants must have a machinist qualification while being in charge of operating the LRT trains.

Train Attendants are included in the automatic ASP since the facilities are already operating at GoA level 3, whereas in article 9 of Ministerial Regulation No 4/2017, an Automatic ASP must fulfill the appropriate competency levels and pass the proficiency exam. As a result, Train Ateendants must participate in Competency Test activities.
