LONG-TERM PLAN
Transportation has a critical function in assisting with national development. A functional transportation system is required to sustain the nation's economy as it moves toward a Golden Indonesia 2045 with the vision of "Sovereign, Forward, Just, and Prosperous." The arrival of the future era necessitates the provision of dependable and ecologically pleasant transportation services. Currently, road service capacity is becoming increasingly scarce. The rail method of transportation can address this constraint, as the train is superior in terms of carrying capacity, speed, safety, energy efficiency, and environmental friendliness.
The National Railways Master Plan is a long-term document that describes a single unified railway system as mandated by Railway Law Number 23 of 2007. In general, the preparation of the National Railways Master Plan document, which was published in November 2020, is a periodic process of review and revision. The review is carried out in light of changes in the strategic environment. The following strategies are included in the National Railways Master Plan:
- Development of Service Networks,
- Increased Security and Safety,
- Technology Transfer and Industrial Development,
- Human Resource Development,
- Institutional Development, and
- Investment and Funding Strategy
The National Railways Master Plan should serve as a guide for all national railway stakeholders interested in playing a role in the future of railways. Hopefully, Indonesian railways will fare better.
