Free Motorcycle Transportation (MOTIS) is Back, DJKA Extends Service Routes to East Java

Jakarta (01/03) – The Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation has confirmed that this year’s Free Motorcycle Transportation (MOTIS) service will expand to include East Java. This was announced during a press conference for the 2024 MOTIS program held on Friday, 1 March 2024 in Jakarta.

Arif Anwar, the Director of Railway Traffic and Transportation, stated that this year, MOTIS will operate with three service routes. "In previous years, we received a lot of feedback requesting us to extend the MOTIS service. We hope that by expanding it to East Java, we can attract more public interest," said Arif.

The three service routes for the 2024 MOTIS are as follows:

  • North Route (Round-trip)
    Cilegon – Jakarta Gudang – Cirebon Prujakan – Tegal – Pekalongan – Semarang Tawang

  • Central Route (Round-trip)
    Jakarta Gudang – Cirebon Prujakan – Purwokerto – Kroya – Kutoarjo

  • South Route (Round-trip)
    Jakarta Gudang – Kiaracondong – Kroya – Gombong – Kebumen – Lempuyangan – Purwosari – Madiun

To encourage public participation in the 2024 MOTIS program, Arif mentioned that participants will also be able to purchase train tickets at affordable prices. MOTIS 2024 participants will be able to purchase two passenger tickets at prices ranging from IDR 10.000 to IDR 20.000 per passenger for each service route.

The public can register for the 2024 MOTIS program from March 4 to April 18, 2024, via the website mudikgratis.dephub.go.id. To participate, the public should ensure that they meet the following requirements:

  • A valid ID card (KTP), driver’s license (SIM), family card (KK), and vehicle registration (STNK);

  • The motorcycle must have an engine capacity of less than 200cc;

  • Register through the website mudikgratis.dephub.go.id and complete the verification process at the designated station;

  • Register with an active email address.

Further, Arif explained that MOTIS 2024 will be held from 2-8 April 2024 for the outbound traffic period (Arus Mudik), while the return traffic (Arus Balik) will take place from 13-19 April 2024.

"Each route will have contraflow arrangements so that people traveling in the opposite direction during the outbound or return periods can still use the MOTIS service," added Arif.

Arif hopes that this year's MOTIS program will attract more participants than in previous years. "Let’s take advantage of MOTIS 2024 and avoid forcing ourselves to travel by motorcycle, as it is very dangerous for both ourselves and other road users," concluded Arif. (DA/HJA)
