Jakarta (13/04) - The Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation opens opportunities for the public who have not registered for the Free Motorcycle Transport (MOTIS) program to purchase passenger tickets that are specifically allocated to the program. Director of Railway Traffic and Transportation, Djarot Tri Wardhono, announced this on Thursday (13/04) in Jakarta.

Djarot Tri Wardhono further explained that due to the high enthusiasm for train tickets for homecoming, the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) has decided to open the passenger quota in the MOTIS program to the public, enabling more people to access the program. "Currently, the public can purchase passenger tickets for the MOTIS program through the train ticket sales application provided by the operator, and we will regularly update the availability of remaining tickets," Djarot said.

The Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) has provided a passenger ticket quota of 46,720 for the MOTIS program in 2023, while the motorcycle quota in the program is 10,440.

As of April 13, 2023, the MOTIS program has utilized 9,208 passenger tickets and 6,330 motorcycle tickets. "So that the MOTIS passenger ticket quota can be fully utilized by passengers, we decided to provide the remaining tickets to be sold by operators to the public," Djarot said.

Djarot has also announced that the public can purchase special passenger tickets for the MOTIS program at very affordable prices, ranging from Rp. 10,000 to Rp. 20,000 only. “These MOTIS passenger tickets are subsidized by the passenger service obligation (PSO) support from

DJKA, enabling them to be purchased at a much cheaper price compared to regular train tickets." Djarot said.

In order to buy tickets at these low prices, Djarot urged the public to periodically check the ticket sales application provided by the operator. Because new homecoming/return tickets will be available on the application on the same date as the departure date starting at 00.00 WIB. Meanwhile, contra flow tickets will be available on the application on H-1 from the date of departure starting at 00.00 WIB.

As there is high public demand for MOTIS program tickets, Djarot emphasized that the passenger tickets now available for purchase by the public are limited to the remaining crossings that are still available. "We hope that the opening of MOTIS passenger tickets to the public will encourage more people to travel by train and reduce congestion on the highways," Djarot expressed his expectation. (HJA/DA)
