DJKA Ensures Eid Transportation is Safe and Controlled

Jakarta (16/03) - The Director of Railway Traffic and Transportation, Djarot Tri Wardhono, stated that the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) under the Ministry of Transportation is committed to ensuring safe and controlled railway transportation services during the Eid 1444 Hijriah period. He made this statement during a media briefing on Thursday (16/03) at the Cipta Building, Ministry of Transportation Headquarters in Jakarta regarding the preparations for Eid 2023 transportation.

Djarot Tri Wardhono, the Director of Railway Traffic and Transportation, explained in his presentation that the Directorate General of Railways is taking steps to ensure that railway transport services during the upcoming Eid 1444 Hijriah period are safe and under control. To prepare for this, the Directorate General of Railways, in collaboration with PT. KAI (Persero) and KNKT, has conducted ramp checks and railway safety inspections in 9 Operating Regions (Daop) and 4 Regional Divisions (DIVRE), using the Inspection Train. This is a routine activity carried out before the Lebaran and Nataru transportation period to ensure that the railway facilities and infrastructure are in good condition. These ramp checks and inspections were carried out from February to March by a technical team from the Directorate General of Railways and PT. KAI (Persero) and KNKT.

Djarot also mentioned that the Ministry of Transportation will set up an Integrated Monitoring Post to closely monitor the implementation of rail transportation and travel during the Lebaran 2023 period. To anticipate a surge in passengers, DJKA is coordinating with operators to increase the frequency and capacity of train travel by optimizing available operational facilities.

"To ensure the smoothness of Lebaran Transportation and to anticipate train disruptions and accidents, we will deploy personnel at the Pusdalopka and several stations to optimize the acquisition of faster and more accurate real-time information on events. Additionally, to anticipate disruptions in facilities and infrastructure, we will also deploy locomotive posts, train generators, cranes, and AMUS placements at designated locations. It is hoped that the implementation of Lebaran Transportation this year can run smoothly and with zero accidents, as was the case in the previous year," Djarot added.

Djarot concluded his presentation by urging the public to participate in the 2023 Free Motorcycle (Motis) program, which is still open for registration. He also emphasized that the government has taken a series of preparatory activities to ensure the smooth and safe implementation of Eid transportation, and hopes for the community's support in achieving this goal. "We hope for the support of the community to participate in supporting the smooth implementation of Lebaran Transportation that is safe, comfortable and secure," he said. (MIR/JM/DA)
