SUPPORTING THE NATIONAL PROGRAM TO BRING PEOPLE BACK TO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION, LRT SUMSEL PROVIDES FREE SERVICE ON THE ANNIVERSARY OF BHAYANGKARA.

The South Sumatra Light Railway Management Center (BPKARSS) pleased the people of Palembang City once again by providing free LRT tickets in order to support the National Movement to Return to Public Transportation (GNKAU) AND welcome the 77th Bhayangkara Anniversary, which falls on 1 July 2023.

According to Rode Paulus, the head of the South Sumatra Light Railway Management Center, free LRT rides are a sign of support for the National Programme Back to Public Transportation (GNKAU) campaign established by Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi. Furthermore, 1 July 2023 is designated as the 77th Bhayangkara Day. We are also appreciative for the police's assistance in maintaining and securing South Sumatra LRT assets.

However, for people who hold cashless cards, LRT payments will be charged Rp 1. Because the system will still deduct the balance for recording.

Through this activity, BPKARSS as the manager of the South Sumatra LRT wants to invite people to return to public transportation rather than taking private vehicles.

Rode added, in the previous free LRT ride program the number of LRT users increased to 38,698. This number increased by 300% from the number of daily passengers on weekend days.

The average number of daily passengers on the South Sumatra LRT in 2023 is more than in 2022. In one day the average number of passengers is around 11 thousand people.

If on weekdays the range is 10 thousand passengers per day. But if the weekend (Saturday-Sunday) up to 12 thousand passengers in one day. While last year the average was only 8 thousand passengers.
