Focus Group Discussion on Improving Railway Safety: Head of BTP Class I Medan Calls it the Starting Point for Sustainable Collaboration
MEDAN - Medan Class I Railway Engineering Center (BTP) has held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the theme "Stakeholder Collaboration in Improving Level Crossing Safety in the North Sumatra Region", Wednesday (10/23/2024)
The FGD event was opened by Mr. Jimmy Michael Gultom as the Head of Medan Class I Railway Engineering Center.
In his remarks, Mr. Jimmy introduced the work area of BTP Class I Medan along with the Service Units (Satpel) under the auspices of BTP. He also explained the duties and functions of BTP Class I Medan in improving railway safety in the area.
After the remarks, the FGD event continued with the delivery of material by several related stakeholders, with one of the main topics regarding "Legal Basis for Authority and Responsibility in Improving Safety at Level Crossings."
This FGD was attended by a number of speakers from various agencies and the formulation team. The formulation team was represented by Edi Nursalam, while the other eight speakers who attended are:
- Ali Irmanda, from Ditjen Bina Pembangunan Daerah Kementerian Dalam Negeri;
- Danan Widhonarko from Direktorat Keselamatan Perkeretaapian;
- Moses Siburian from Balai Besar Pelaksana Jalan Nasional Provinsi Sumatera Utara;
- Rika Sigalingging from Polda Sumatera Utara;
- Muksin Harahap from Dinas Perhubungan Provinsi Sumatera Utara;
- Satria Adhitya from Divisi Regional I Wilayah Sumatera Utara;
- Syafek Jamhari from PPSDM Perhubungan Darat;
- Arief Yunarto from Balai Pengujian Perkeretaapian; dan
- Aryadarhu Dharismawan from Tim Konsultan.
At the end of the event, Mr. Jimmy Michael Gultom expressed his hopes regarding the continuation of collaboration between stakeholders in improving railway safety in the Medan area.
"Our hope with this FGD is to be the starting point for ongoing collaboration between stakeholders in the Medan Class I Railway Engineering Center area. Together, we can strive to improve safety and minimize accidents at level crossings. In the future, this collaboration is expected to continue," he said.
He also emphasized the importance of cooperation in creating and maintaining railway safety in North Sumatra. AI/ARH/MAD/RZ)
