Gapeka 2023, Sibinuang Train Officially Renamed Pariaman Ekspres

Padang-In compliance with the 2023 Railway Travel Chart (Gapeka), the Sibinuang train has been renamed Pariaman Ekspres. The Class II Padang Railway Engineering Center (BTP) has begun installing Gapeka 2023, which will replace Gapeka 2021 on Thursday, 1 June 2023.

"Gapeka is a guideline for regulating the implementation of train travel depicted in the form of lines showing stations, times, distances, speeds, and positions of train travel starting from departing, stopping, arriving, crossing to supporting graphically depicted to control train travel," Padang BTP Head Supandi explained in a statement issued Wednesday 31 May 2023.

The decision of the Governor of West Sumatra, Number 551.6-391-2022, Year 2022, concerning the determination of the name of the regular train "Pariaman Express" serving the Naras-Padang-Pauhlimo crossing in West Sumatra Province, contains the change in the name of the Sibinuang train to Pariaman Ekpress. The Director General of Railways then made improvements in Gapeka in response to this. "It is expected that with this name change, train travel will be safer, more comfortable, and more secure," he continued.

The implementation of Gapeka 2023 modifies the train arrival and departure schedules in addition to changing one of the train names. The public is expected to double-check the departure time on the ticket as a result.

"Like the Pariaman Ekspres train, which formerly departed at 09.25 from Pauh Lima Station, it will now depart earlier at 09.20 as of 1st of June." the 05.50 Naras Station departure will now leave at 05.45. Following that, the Pariaman Ekspres train service now also makes stops at Pasar Usang and Cimparuh Stations, according to the department head.

In light of the fact that rail travel would be more flexible in Gapeka 2023, Kabalai also urged everyone to use caution at level crossings by giving trains the right of way and obeying by the law as it is.

In accordance with Law No. 23 of 2007 Concerning Railways, "Discipline to the rules at level crossings is necessary because if there is a violation, it will harm not only road users but also train travel."

He explained, to improve safety at level crossings, a pedestrian bridge has also been built at Pasar Usang Station that can be used by the public as a safety route. That way, people can easily cross without going through the railroad tracks.
"Hopefully, Gapeka 2023 will be able to increase the mobility of people using trains as mass transportation in West Sumatra, and become one of the forms of railway development in West Sumatra," he said.
