Collaboration on Introduction and Demonstration of Level Crossing Safety Equipment Products at BTP Class I Medan
MEDAN - The Medan Class I Railway Engineering Center (BTP) has held a collaboration on the introduction and demonstration of level crossing safety equipment products, and was carried out in the Cut Meutia meeting room and the BTP Class I Medan field, Monday (10/28/2024)
The Head of the Medan Class I Railway Engineering Center, Mr. Jimmy Michael Gultom and his staff also attended the event.
In this activity, a number of level crossing safety equipment products were introduced, including:
- Service Desk (Control Console): The control panel at the level crossing is placed at the guard post of the crossing guard with a sturdy structure. This panel functions to regulate the movement of the gate and the system can be controlled remotely via a monitor connected to satellite internet or GSM network.
- Warning XC Lights: The level crossing is equipped with exclusive warning lights using double XC Lights that provide vital information to road users, with red light when a train is about to cross and yellow light when there is no train.
- Warning Siren/Speaker: This warning speaker emits a sound signal as information for road users who are about to cross the crossing that a train is approaching.
- Drive Motor Box: The Drive Motor Box is where the main drive components of the crossing are placed, such as the drive motor, the crossing brake and the electrical system.
- Andreas Cross Sign: This sign is used as a marker for drivers that they are approaching a railroad crossing and indicates whether the lane is single or double lane.
- CCTV and Monitor: CCTV and monitors at the crossing guard post function to record video and are equipped with antennas to transmit video data to the receiver and recorder, then display the recording results on the monitor.
- Crossing Support Post: This post is the main support for several components on the railway crossing, such as the crossing arm, driving motor, XC lights, warning speakers, and Andreas Cross signs.
- Crossing Arm: This crossing arm functions to maintain the safety of train travel by limiting the area of road users who will cross when a train passes.
Through this activity, the Medan Class I Railway Engineering Center hopes to support increased safety at level crossings and strengthen the commitment to ensuring the safety of railway traffic.
