Bandung –The Ministry of Transportation is currently trying to improve railway facilities as a solution to reduce road congestion in Indonesia by operating the reactivation of railway lines. One of the railway lines undergoing reactivation operations is the Cipatat – Cianjur segment, which is fully supported by the Special Committee IX of the DPRD of West Java Province.

On Thursday (4/2) the Special Committee IX of the DPRD of West Java Province directly inspected the reactivation of the Cipatat – Cianjur segment of the railway line to Cianjur station using the Siliwangi Train. On that occasion, the Deputy Chairperson of the Special Committee IX of the DPRD of West Java Province, Yunandar Eka Perwira, argued that there was a need for a paradigm shift regarding transportation facilities, "It is time for the paradigm to shift to the railway line, because even from the Dutch colonial era this has been proven to be very significant for transportation. goods and people and that was the first thing that was built to look at the economic path, namely the train line, now we must try to reflect back on the old ways to support a more advanced economy, "said Yunandar.

Yunandar assessed that the reactivation of the Cianjur to Bandung railway line is still disconnected in the Cipatat area and this will be an important note from the priority of the revision of the Regional Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMD).

The visit and work meeting were also attended by the Head of the Class I Railway Engineering Center for the Western Java Region, the Deputy for DAOP 2 PT KAI Bandung, Public Relations Manager for DAOP 2 PT KAI Bandung, HR Manager for DAOP 2 PT KAI Bandung, Manager JJ DAOP 2 PT KAI Bandung, Manager of DAOP 2 Facilities at PT KAI Bandung and BAPPEDA, Department of Transportation and Bureau of Law and Human Rights.

The Special Committee IX DPRD hopes that the West Java Provincial Government can fully support the reactivation of the Cianjur - Cipatat segment of the railway line so that it can become a driving force for the community's economy, including the Cipatat - Padalarang segment, which is expected to be connected soon.

The Head of the West Java Railway Engineering Center said that the Cipatat-Padalarang segment is still in the planning process regarding re-alignment related to the gradient adjustment of the Cipatat-Sasaksaat-Padalarang Shortcut which is targeted to be completed by the end of 2021, and asks for support from the Regional Government. Support for the implementation of land acquisition and control as needed and If the route changes, it is necessary to change the Regional Spatial Plan.
