Palembang – The South Sumatra Light Rail Transit (LRT Sumsel) Management Office held a socialization event on document and archival management in accordance with the Minister of Transportation (KM) Decree No. 41 of 2024. The event took place over three days, from October 23 to 25, 2024, at the Novotel Hotel Palembang. The aim of this activity was to enhance the understanding and skills of LRT Sumsel employees in managing archives and documents according to the latest standards set by the government.

Two archival experts from the Ministry of Transportation’s General Bureau served as resource persons: Mr. Adityo Wibowo, a Junior Archivist from the Correspondence Team, and Mr. Wawan Ismanto, a Senior Archivist from the Soreang Record Center Team. They provided guidance and practical training to participants on effective and systematic archival management to support smooth administration and document governance at LRT Sumsel.

This socialization provided participants with insights into the latest policies on archival management, especially those related to the regulations outlined in Ministerial Decree KM 41/2024. The participants, who came from various divisions within South Sumatra LRT, actively engaged in the sessions, as the material presented was highly relevant to their daily administrative needs.

On the first day, Adityo Wibowo explained the basics of document and archival management, covering classification, storage, and document destruction according to applicable regulations. He emphasized the importance of awareness in proper governance to create orderly and efficient documentation. “Systematic archival management helps us maintain data integrity and facilitates the search for needed information in the future,” Adityo explained.

On the second day, Wawan Ismanto provided detailed insights into the importance of a record center in supporting organizational efficiency. He explained that well-managed archives not only simplify information access but also serve as the basis for making informed decisions. "A record center is essential in maintaining archives that have high utility value and ensuring that information is available quickly and accurately when needed," he said.

In addition to the presentations, the event also included discussion sessions and simulations, where participants were allowed to practice archival management. They learned how to classify documents, arrange archives by category, and store documents properly to prevent physical damage.

On the final day, the third day, an evaluation and Q&A session took place, where participants raised questions about the challenges they face in managing archives in their respective work environments. The resource persons provided solutions and practical tips to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of document management.

Through this socialization, it is hoped that all employees of South Sumatra LRT will gain a deeper understanding of the importance of effective and standardized archival management. Properly managed archives not only make document retrieval easier but also support organizational accountability in serving the public. This socialization on document and archival management is a crucial step for South Sumatra LRT in improving the quality of internal administration that supports public services.

The event concluded with the hope that the knowledge gained from the socialization will be applied in daily operations. LRT Sumsel is committed to continually improving its administration and archival management in accordance with applicable regulations, to support the organization’s vision and mission of providing the best service to the people of South Sumatra.
