South Sumatra LRT Supports Reading Movement through Reading Corner Activities
The South Sumatra Light Railway Management Center (BPKARSS) supports the Love to Read program by creating a digital reading corner library service (POCADI) in the public space of the station. This activity is the result of cooperation between BPKARSS and the South Sumatra Provincial Library Office.
At present, a total of 288 books are available in POCADI. The books consist of general knowledge books, comics and novels. Visitors can read the books free of charge while waiting for the train. However, the available books cannot be borrowed.
So, if visitors do not have time to finish reading, they can continue on the train by accessing the digital library. It is called Diary South Sumatra. This application can be downloaded for free from PlayStore. Visitors can read thousands of books from national and regional libraries. This digital library can make it easier for people to access various reading materials that are useful for knowledge and entertainment.
Based on the safety of the station, visitors to POCADI are students and university students. They are usually looking for references for assignments and research. "Some come for a while. Quite a few also spend hours in this place," said Yuliana, a library guard, when we met on Thursday (3/21).
The comfortable place and the availability of a free charging area at POCADI make visitors and passengers feel at home and read for a long time. It is hoped that the Reading Corner and Diary South Sumatra Digital Library can increase the knowledge, creativity and understanding of the community through the books and readings available.
