The Community Excited about Yogyakarta Solo Electric Train Public Trial

After the Yogyakarta - Solo electric train trip trial was carried out with limited users from January 20 to 31, 2021 yesterday, KAI Commuter together with the Directorate General of Railways at the Ministry of Transportation continued the trial of KRL travel services with the general public from Monday, February 1 -7 2021. The first day of the trial of the Yogya-Solo electric train service with the general public took place in a safe and orderly manner.

The first day of the trial was attended by more than 1,700 users who wanted to know about electric train services and experience using the first electric train in Indonesia outside the Greater Jakarta area. Until Monday (1/2) afternoon, the trial activities were running smoothly. Prospective trial participants orderly tap-in and tap-out for payment transactions for electric train travel tickets. Officers at stations and trains also always provide education about how to use electric trains.

The President Director of KAI Commuter, Wiwik Widayanti said that participants in the electric train trial must register through the KRL Access Application and have the appropriate ticket to ride the KRL. "The tickets that can be used are Multi Trip Cards (KMT) from KAI Commuter and electronic money cards from Banks, namely Mandiri E-money, BNI Tap Cash, Brizzi from BRI, and Flazz BCA." said Wiwik. Each KMT or bank electronic money card is only valid for one person, he added.

Wiwik said that KMT can be purchased at all station counters serving KRL at a price of Rp. 30,000,- including a balance of Rp. 10,000. KAI Commuter also provides a mobile officer who will offer KMT to prospective participants for an easy trial to get KMT.

During this pandemic, KAI Commuter also enforces regulations related to applicable health protocols, such as limiting the number of users on each KRL trip with a quota of 74 people per train. This is done to maximize physical distancing efforts throughout KRL trips. KRL users are also required to check their body temperature before boarding the KRL, use a minimum of three layers of masks or use medical masks, wash their hands before and after using electric trains.

What is different about KRL services is the seating configuration. On each train (carriage) there are 4 long benches that can be filled in total for 24 users, and 4 priority seats which can be used by 12 people in total. This priority seat is specially prepared for priority users (Parents, pregnant women, users with children, and users with disabilities). While the space for standing users was recorded as 38 people.

Wiwik also added that every KRL user must obey the regulations that apply when riding the KRL. "KRL users are prohibited from eating and drinking inside the KRL, users are also prohibited from sitting on the floor using folding chairs or other mats, and KRL users are prohibited from speaking directly or via mobile phones." Add Wiwik.

KAI Commuter urges all participants who take part in the trial of this KRL travel service to always obey the applicable regulations and follow all directions from officers in the field. KAI Commuter also hopes that all participants of this trial will maintain the cleanliness of the KRL or station area for mutual comfort and maintain KRL facilities and infrastructure so that all levels of society can enjoy it.
