OVER PASS TEGAL BONDO IN PURWOREJO INAUGURATED,  SAFETY OF SOUTH JAVA CROSS ROAD TRAVEL INCREASED

Jakarta (7/1)-Located in Tegal Bondo, Purworejo Overpass Tegal Bondo built on the Dual Cross South of Java in Purworejo was finally inaugurated. The inauguration was marked by the signing of inscriptions by Regent Purworejo R. H Agus Bastian SE MM, accompanied by the Head of Railway Engineering Center Class I of Central Java Region Putu Sumarjaya MSc, Thursday (7/1/2021).

Also present virtually, Director General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia Ir, Zulfikri, MSc. DEA and member of the House of Representatives commission five, Ir Sudjadi. The inauguration was also attended by Forkopimda, Regional Secretary Purworejo, and a number of related officials.

Director-General of Railways Zulfikri virtually said the implementation of Tegalgondo Overpass construction work aims to support government programs in efforts to improve the safety of rail travel by eliminating the crossing.

In accordance with the mandate of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 23 of 2007 Article 91 Paragraph 1, that the intersection between the railway and the road is made is not a plot.

Overpass Development Activities that use Corrugated-Mortar Busa Pusjatan (CMP) technology is the result of cooperation between the Ministry of Transportation, Directorate General of Railways, PT. Indonesian Railways (Persero) and Purworejo Regency Government.

"With the removal of the crossing of a plot between the railway and the highway is expected to provide benefits, including improving the safety of rail travel and road users," Zulfikri said.

Regent Agus Bastian said the construction of this overpass is a solution to improve train travel and can be one of the models in dealing with the problem of crossing a plot for other regions.

Even today, The Tegalgondo Overpass has become an impromptu tourist destination for the community. According to him, The Tegalgondo Overpass became a very magnificent and prominent building compared to the surroundings, so it attracted the attention of residents to look up close and take selfies.

"This overpass is not only a crossing but also as an impromptu tourist destination. It's just that in the future it needs to be arranged in such a way so that its main function as a transportation route is not disturbed," said the Regent.

The Regent added, the Provincial Government has proposed the overpass in Purwodadi Subdistrict. It also did not rule out the possibility to propose the construction of overpasses in other sub-districts, which are crossed by railways with a road crossing.

"In addition to here, our proposal is also in Purwodadi precisely Plandi Village. Hopefully, in 2021, this can be realized, so that it can provide benefits for access to people's daily mobility," he added.

Meanwhile, Head of Railway Engineering Center Class I of Central Java Region, Putu Sumarjaya MSc., explained that the construction of Tegalgondo Overpass using state budget funding (SBSN) with a total budget of Rp. 53,329,381,000, - which is divided into 2 stages of budgeting.

Phase I of Fiscal Year 2017 - 2020 with a total budget of Rp. 27,554,590,000, - and Phase II of Fiscal Year 2020 with a total budget of Rp. 25,774,791,000,-.

"With the inauguration of the Tegalgondo Overpass, it is expected to provide benefits to the people of Purworejo Regency, and in the future can reduce the number of accidents at the crossing," concluded Sumarjaya.
