A Brief Understanding of the Minimum Service Standards for Railway Transportation

Minimum Service Standards or commonly abbreviated as SPM is the minimum size of service that must be met by service providers in providing services to service users, which must be equipped with benchmarks that are used as guidelines for service delivery and references for assessing service quality as obligations and promises of service providers to the community in framework of quality service, fast, easy, affordable and measurable. (PM 63/2019).

So that the SPM for the transportation of people by train is the SPM intended for rail passenger services.
The SPM for Railway Passenger Services in accordance with the Minister of Transportation Regulation number PM 63 of 2019 consists of SPM at train stations and SPM on the way.

SPM at the train station is based on:
a. Station class for intercity train services, short distance trains, and diesel rail trains.
b. The average number of passengers served per day for the Electric Rail Train, LRT, MRT and Airport Train services.

In implementing the SPM for the Transport of People by Train both at the train station and during the journey, 6 (six) aspects must be met, namely:
1. Safety
2. Security
3. Reliability
4. Convenience
5. Convenience
6. and Equality

Then, what is included in SPM in Travel?
SPM in transit is divided into intercity railway services, urban railways and airport railways.
for urban Railways include:
a. Short distance train
b. Diesel Rail Train
c. Electric Rail Train
d. Light Rail Transit (LRT)
5. Mass Rapid Transit (MRT)

Railway Transportation Services used to carry out Public Service Obligations (PSO) and Railway Pioneer Transportation must meet the Minimum Service Standards.
