THE TRANSITION OF TRAIN TRAVEL GRAPHICS (GAPEKA)

(Jakarta- 26/5)-The Gapeka transition is the time when the Train Travel Chart (Gapeka) will be replaced with the new Gapeka. Changes in Gapeka are made possible by the need for transportation, namely the addition of train services, the second change can be caused by the addition or reduction of the number of railway facilities being operated, the addition and lack of facilities will affect the frequency and capacity of traffic on the railway line. Third, there is a change in train speed caused by rail facilities and infrastructure, for example, the railroad has been replaced with a better one so that the speed can increase or the facilities operated are still new. The fourth change in Gapeka caused by the railway infrastructure, for example the construction of a double track, or the change from mechanical signals to electronic signals can also affect Gapeka. The last change was due to coercive circumstances, this was because Gapeka was completely unenforceable.

The transfer of Gapeka can be carried out after the service cross proposed by the infrastructure owner is approved by the regulator, the operating permit for railway facilities and railway infrastructure has been fulfilled and the new Gapeka has been stipulated by the Minister of Transportation. The transition of Gapeka usually starts at 12 pm on the date the new Gapeka is enacted. Enforcement of Gapeka in 2021 In accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Transportation number KP 1385 of 2020 concerning Stipulation of Railroad Travel Charts in 2021 and KP 1362 of 2020 concerning Stipulation of Cross-Railway Services, it will take effect on February 10, 2021.

The implementation of Gapeka in 2021 has accommodated several changes to railway infrastructure. The infrastructure includes the Kotabumi – Cempaka double track in Lampung, the Jombang-Mojokerto double track in East Java, and the Solo Jebres – Solo Balapan and Tambak – Kebumen – Need double track in Central Java. Infrastructure in the form of electricity, namely the construction of electrification of Yogyakarta – Solo Balapan. Infrastructure in the form of stations, namely the construction of Merapi Station in South Sumatra, Pulau Aie Station and Tarandam Station in West Sumatra, and changes to Curahmalang Station and Peterongan Station in East Java, as well as closing of Soka Station in Central Java.

Changes in Gapeka in 2021 from Gapeka in 2019 also have two additional service lines, namely the Binjai Besitang route in North Sumatra and the Padang Island Aie crossing in West Sumatra. Increased speed in all Operational Areas (DAOP) and Regional Divisions (Divre) of PT. KAI also influences the change of Gapeka in 2019 to Gapeka 2021.

The number of trains operating for transportation will change in Gapeka in 2021, both for freight and passenger transportation. The number of freight trains on the Java Island railway network decreased by two services, namely from 116 trains to 114 trains, while the number of freight trains on the Sumatra Island railway network increased by 14 services, from 200 trains to 214 trains. Passenger services on the Java Island railway network decreased by 89 services from 513 trains to 424 trains, while passenger services on the Sumatra Island railway network increased by two services from 513 trains to 424 trains.

In the transition from Gapeka in 2019 to Gapeka in 2021, there is something new, namely the electrification of the Yogyakarta - Solo Balapan railway line as well as the operation of the Electric Train (KRL) by PT. KCI is expected to increase transportation mobility in the region and also encourage better economic growth.
