Elevator Maintenance at Manggarai Station Completed, DJKA Ensures Escalators on Platforms 11 and 12 Can Serve Passengers
Jakarta (14/03) – The Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation has confirmed that the escalators at Manggarai station are now fully operational and ready to serve passengers. This was stated by the Head of Balai Teknik Perkeretaapian (BTP) Class I Jakarta, Ferdian Suryo Adhi Pramono, after repairs were made to several escalators at Manggarai Station following the Inspection Test on Wednesday 13 March 2024.
Ferdian further explained that the Inspection Test was conducted to fully assess the repairs needed to ensure the escalators function optimally. "We have implemented the recommendations from the inspection test, which was conducted in cooperation with the Health and Safety Service Company (PJK3) registered with the Ministry of Manpower. The escalators are now back in service," says Ferdian.
Some of the post-inspection activities included repairs to the escalator drive components. In addition to the necessary repairs, PJK3 also recommended that the operator ensure regular maintenance and manage the flow capacity of passengers using the escalators.
After the maintenance was completed, Ferdian expressed hope that the public using train services at Manggarai station would be well served. "We apologise for any inconvenience caused to passengers due to the maintenance activities," he added.
Looking ahead, Ferdian also announced plans for future inspection tests of all lift and escalator equipment at six stations (Manggarai, Matraman, Jatinegara, Bekasi, Tambun, Cikarang) still under the responsibility of BTP Jakarta. This will be followed by maintenance activities, including overhaul and refurbishment, for all lift and escalator equipment in need of repair.
"The budget approval for these maintenance activities was granted last week, and we will proceed according to the mechanisms outlined in the Government Procurement of Goods/Services process," Ferdian explained.
Furthermore, Ferdian mentioned that discussions have been held with PT KAI (Persero) and PT KCI, the operators, regarding the management of stations. "The goal of these discussions is to improve service efficiency and maximize service for passengers at the commuter stations under BTP Jakarta's supervision," he continued.
Ferdian also encouraged the public to help maintain the facilities provided. "If any further issues arise with the facilities, we ask that they be reported to us so we can address them immediately," he concluded.
