Jakarta - Accompanying the Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia, Director of Railway Infrastructure Harno Trimadi explained the plan to develop the Jogja-Solo KRL, which has been operating for a year. This year, DJKA, through the Directorate of Railway Infrastructure, is completing the electrification project and the construction of the Solo Jebres Depot.

During the 1 Year Celebration of the Jogja Solo KRL held at Solo Balapan Station on Saturday (12/3), the Director of Infrastructure explained the progress of development related to electrification to the Minister of Transportation. The electrification of the Yogya-Solo route, which previously only reached Solo Balapan Station, is planned to be expanded to Palur Station.

"It will be developed (electrification across Yogya-Solo) to Palur Station in the first stage," explained Harno.

In addition to electrification, Harno also explained the construction of a depot which will later function as a place for train maintenance. The construction began in 2020 and is targeted for completion in August 2022, both physically and for testing.

"This depot must be completed in August because later it will function as a place for the maintenance of Commuter/KRL trains. In the future, all train maintenance will be at the Solo Jebres Depot," he said.

The Depo Solo Jebres is targeted to be able to function starting in August 2022 as a place for the maintenance of all KRL, both routine and annual maintenance.

Meanwhile, KRL Jogja Solo, the first KRL outside Jabodetabek, has served more than 2.2 million users. DJKA, PT KAI, and the Regional Government are expected to continue to collaborate to realize reliable, fast, comfortable, environmentally friendly and safe commuter transportation for the residents of Jogja-Solo.

The Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, in front of the media crew, expressed his appreciation to the stakeholders who have collaborated in the operation of the Jogja-Solo KRL and explained the plan to increase the waiting time for arrivals between trains (headway) which will be shorter.

"For now, the headway is still 30 minutes. Furthermore, it will be shortened to 5 minutes to increase passenger capacity," he said.

The Minister of Transportation also emphasized that rail transportation will continue to be developed and integrated with other modes of transportation.

"In Solo, we will develop transportation to the Tirtonadi Bus Terminal and Adi Soemarmo Airport. We also have to coordinate in Jogja because mass transportation is a mainstay of the community now and in the future," he said.

The Minister of Transportation also hopes that the interest of KRL users can increase as in Jakarta, and the cooperation between the Ministry of Transportation, PT KAI and the Regional Government can run well to continue to serve the community.
